Submissions

Through communicating with others we learn that we are not alone in our experiences or thoughts. We strengthen and enrich each other through the bonds of sisterhood. We would love to hear your comments, opinions, ideas, experiences, and reactions. Please feel free to share your voice with us and the other women and men who are a part of the Exponent family. 

We welcome personal essays, poetry, fiction, artwork, and book reviews for publication. We focus on -- but do not print exclusively -- manuscripts that are women/Mormon-related. We publish the work of experienced as well as beginning writers and have editors ready to assist authors through the writing process. Some topics we are considering for upcoming issues include international Church experience, raising children in the Church, spiritual power and healing, adoption, and the Church and politics.

Please type your submissions -- double spaced and single sided, and if possible, send them on IBM compatible or MAC disks. Include your name, address, phone number, and email address (when available). Keep a copy of your work because manuscripts will not be returned unless you include a self-addressed, stamped envelope. We are also looking for original cover artwork/photography and article illustrations. Please contact us if you have artwork you'd like to submit or if you'd like a specific assignment.

Call for Submissions

Are you looking to be a part of a wonderful literary tradition? Exponent II has been publishing a quarterly paper since 1975 and we are looking for new contributors for our upcoming issues.

Personal essays, artwork, poetry and fiction on any theme related to the experience of Mormon women, both inside and outside the church are welcome. We are particularly interested in finding writers willing to tackle the following topics:

"Where Have all the Mormon Feminists Gone?" Essays on your own experience with the "F" word and whether or not Mormon Feminists still exist.

"Why I've Stayed" and "Why I've Left" Essays between friends and family members on their relationship to the LDS church and each other.

"I Am Orthodoxy" How seemingly "orthodox" as well as "unorthodox" life choices have been the result of following your Mormon faith. How thoughtful decisions to have children or not have children, marry or remain unmarried, be politically conservative or politically liberal, etc., have been the result of your faith, not in spite of it.
